LEGO 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar 9509

LEGO 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar 9509

The LEGO 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar was not as exciting as it was last year. I like the original trilogy and am not so much a fan of the prequels, which seems to be the theme in this set. Whereas last year, we got Yoda Santa, Millennium Falcon, and black R2, this year we get Darth Maul Santa, Snowman R2, and Jar Jar.

My favorite is the AT-AT. I didn’t care for Jar Jar in the movies, but he was cute as a Lego figure. Darth Maul was my least favorite. It’s like having the Grinch as the finale.

Last year, the children had crying fits over who got what. This year, it was ho-hum. They didn’t care. Ah well, it’s Star Wars. I got it because I’m a fan.

LEGO Disney Cars Exclusive Limited Edition Set #8677 Ultimate Build Mater

My ten year-old son bought this LEGO Disney Cars Exclusive Limited Edition Set at the Lego store today and we built it in about an hour. It wasn’t difficult. The bags were separated so we didn’t have to search hard to find everything. It comes with stickers for some of the Lego pieces. The wheels roll and the tow line works, but my son usually just displays his projects after he’s done.

For the money, I wish it took more time to make.

The pics in the slideshow are of the figures in the order we found them in the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (7958). I was surprised by how many tiny Lego pieces went into making each figure. They are tiny but intricate. Extra pieces come in each plastic bag, just in case. My kids collect Star Wars Lego, especially the characters, and I haven’t seen these in any other set. I myself would love to keep the X-wing and black R2; but alas, my kids beat me to it. This is a terrific calendar. I highly recommend it for any Star Wars Lego collector.
